Dr. John Bargh is Professor of Psychology and Cognitive Science at Yale University. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois in 1977 and received his PhD from Michigan in 1981, where his advisor was Robert Zajonc. From 1981 to 2003 he was on the Psychology faculty of New York University, and moved to Yale in 2003. His research focuses on unconscious influences on all aspects of everyday life, summarized in his 2017 book Before You Know It. His awards include the annual best dissertation award from the Society for Experimental Social Psychology (1982), both the Early and the Career Contribution Awards from the American Psychological Association (1989 and 2014), a Guggenheim Fellowship (2001), and the Donald Campbell Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. In 2011, Dr. Bargh was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
